Students of St. Francis Xavier College, Canberra in Australia are here on a project to analyze the condition of school’s and the level of education in the rural areas of the hills in Uttarakhand.
Students of St. Francis Xavier College, Canberra in Australia are here on a project to analyze the condition of school’s and the level of education in the rural areas of the hills in Uttarakhand.
According to Sua, a lady teacher in the group, nine students along with two teacher’s including her have come to Nainital to visit the Government school at Pangot. Sua told that the students of her College have come here for a project on education and the students would learn about education standards and their community.
Sua further said that they are here for another twenty days as they will visit Pindari Glacier on the coming twenty-sixth of this month, they will return after a week and a half and then with the help of a local coordinator they will visit the nearby school in Pangoot. The Australian students are very excited to see the small students of the hill region and have planned to present them with Cushions to sit, and a Shed (shelter) as they have come to know that the school does not have chair’s to sit and roof to provide them shelter.
Steven, a class teacher told us that the students have raised a Fund for the project from a year and a half as the government did not provide them with any aid. He added that the group would move to Rishikesh and Haridwar for their further project work.
The students played a Basketball match with the local youths to release their exertion of traveling from Australia via Kuala-Lumpur and Delhi, the students are of class 11and 12. Joe, Andy Tim are some of the students who have visited the Lake city.
